Supporting Coordinated, Trauma-Informed Responses to Crime
TXFNE collaborates with law enforcement agencies, District Attorney Offices, prosecutors, healthcare providers, victim advocates, and multidisciplinary teams across Texas to support victim survivors through specialized forensic healthcare services and Adult Forensic Interviews (AFIs).
As the creator of the broadest regional forensic healthcare network in Texas and the home of Texas' largest and most established Adult Forensic Interview program, TXFNE helps communities expand access to specialized forensic services while supporting coordinated, victim-centered responses to crime.
Our role is to provide independent, neutral, trauma-informed forensic healthcare and interview services that support victim survivors while preserving the integrity of the investigative process.
How We Work Collaborate
TXFNE works alongside law enforcement agencies, District Attorney Offices, prosecutors, healthcare providers, advocates, and multidisciplinary teams to:
• Provide medical forensic examinations
• Conduct Adult Forensic Interviews (AFIs)
• Document injuries and forensic findings
• Support trauma-informed responses to crime
• Participate in multidisciplinary case coordination
• Provide expert testimony when appropriate
• Deliver education, training, and technical assistance
• Share best practices related to trauma-informed and victim-centered responses
Why It Matters
Victim survivors who have experienced trauma may respond differently than others expect. Trauma-informed approaches help professionals better understand those responses while supporting victim survivors with dignity, respect, and compassion.
By incorporating specialized forensic healthcare services and Adult Forensic Interviews into the multidisciplinary response, communities can strengthen support for victim survivors, improve coordination between agencies, and increase access to critical resources and services.
Strengthening Victim-Centered Investigations Across Texas
TXFNE collaborates with law enforcement agencies, District Attorney Offices, prosecutors, and multidisciplinary teams to support coordinated, trauma-informed responses that strengthen investigations while prioritizing victim survivor well-being.
Specialized Forensic Healthcare Expertise
Law enforcement and prosecutors gain access to experienced forensic nurses who provide medical forensic examinations, injury documentation, evidence collection, and expert clinical insight that supports investigative and judicial processes.
Adult Forensic Interviews (AFI)
As the home of Texas' largest and most established Adult Forensic Interview program, TXFNE provides neutral, trauma-informed interviews that reduce retraumatization, improve information gathering, and support multidisciplinary case coordination.
Coordinated Multidisciplinary Response
TXFNE works alongside law enforcement agencies, District Attorney Offices, healthcare providers, advocates, and community partners to strengthen communication, improve coordination, and support victim-centered responses throughout the investigative process.
Independent, Neutral, Evidence-Based Services
TXFNE forensic nurses and forensic interviewers provide independent, neutral, evidence-based services guided by professional standards, clinical expertise, and trauma-informed practices.
While we regularly collaborate with law enforcement agencies, District Attorney Offices, healthcare providers, advocates, and multidisciplinary teams, TXFNE does not determine guilt, advocate for a particular outcome, or serve as an investigative agency.
Our role is to provide objective forensic healthcare and interview services that support victim survivors while preserving the integrity of the investigative and judicial process.
